Reigning from Japan, the Akashi Oak Blended Malt Whisky is a single malt Japanese blended whisky that has been the subject of some controversy. The bottling for the home market in Japan at Eigashima Shuzō distillery, and is made with malt whisky and molasses spirit. Located in the city of Akashi in the Hyogo prefecture, the White Oak Distillery was given its distillery license in 1919. While it was previously known for its saké and barley shochu production, it started distilling whisky in 1984.
